Marlynn Ct. Project:  Sewer Line installation

New tiered water rates for Escondido effective 1 Jan 2007:

23 Jan 2007 - First meeting held.  Initial agenda:

12 Feb 2007 - Second meeting held.  A general fund is agreed upon for funds collected toward sewer line survey and installation.

20 Feb 2007 - Funds currently being collected by Casey and Duane nlt 1 Mar 2007 deadline.

27 Feb 2007 - $5K deposited at this time.

05 Mar 2007-  $12K deposited in street fund toward first installment.  Good job everyone.

06 Mar 2007 -  Doug from Excel Engineering came out today. We talked about where the sewer would be placed and where your access would be placed. He will have the survey crew out checking out everything, draw out plans and submit them to the city.  When we hire them we pay $1,000 as a retainer fee at which time they will get started with the project. One thing we found out is we might be a private street which would cost us an additional $1,370 in legal description and plat fees. Also there is something called construction staking which has to be done. It's when the company comes out and paints where the sewer will be and where each house will be hooked up. That cost is $1,660. Now as I understand it the construction company can do the staking, but that would be added to their cost. The other fee I didn't know about is the "As-built plan" which has to be submitted to the city after the sewer is completed. This cost is only $840. Anyway, the whole thing is up to $11,210 if we have to pay for all the above. I have a copy of the cost break-down and will give anyone a copy if you want one.    We will have to get a construction performance bond when we get ready to start construction. That is 2% of the construction cost. I did tell you about that at the first meeting. If we get started on this right away it would be about 4 months at the soonest before we could do any construction. Looks like summer is a great time to put in a sewer. Dan, Frank, Hal, Nancy and I talked to Doug and heard what he said. If any of you have anything to add please email Frank.
